UW-Madison’s
Psychology Graduate Program
is one of the best in the country. Incoming
graduate students are usually guaranteed five years of financial
support, which generally comes in the form of Teaching and Research
Assistantships. The
Prejudice & Intergroup Relations Lab is part of the Social Area Group,
along with the Motivation Lab
and the Culture & Cognition Lab. First-year
grad students complete a First Year Project, equivalent to a Master’s
Thesis, to familiarize them with the research process.
They present these projects at the beginning of their
second year, in a symposium with the other First Years. After
their third year, graduate students take a comprehensive series of
examinations known as prelims. After
satisfactorily passing prelims, they attain dissertator status. |
